A Step in the Right Direction

I have not recovered from the holiday bacchanalia as far as exercise is concerned. I didn't do one step last week. I can't beat myself up too much because I definitely needed the rest. Although I probably need a cardio intervention, I completed day one of the 28 day yoga book first thing this morning. I've been through almost the whole book before but it fell by the wayside. Completing the entire book of exercises is definitely on my priority list.

Yoga is a really feel good activity. I hate to call it exercise because it doesn't feel that way at all. I love how loose and relaxed my body feels afterward. Rejuvenated and ready to go. I do know that it is an effective, if not cardio, workout because I'm feeling a bit of that post exercise soreness in my muscles this afternoon.

If you've never tried yoga, I highly recommend the Hittleman book as a starting point. I can't seem to follow along with yoga on the instructional TV shows but it's very easy to follow along with the book. The instructions are clear and the illustrations are excellent. I'm hoping that once I complete the book that I'll be able to follow along with one of the many yoga programs that are available on the Fitness channel.

  2. Thanks for the link. Those books look a bit advanced for my experience but I will check them out as I progress.
