I'm Going To...

Have you ever used the phrases, "I need to..." or "I have to..." and then never seem to get around to doing what you have or need to? Like clean the toilets or get in that daily workout. I do it all the time and sometimes I get frustrated because my inner child rebels against these thoughts. It's very counterproductive, especially when trying to get healthy and fit (which does take time, work and planning) and balancing it with work, home keeping, bill paying and everything else.

I've decided to try a new tactic. I will attempt to replace the other phrases with "I'm going to..." This might help create a new mindset and keep the motivation up and momentum going.

What do you think, can such a small shift of thinking make an impact?

  1. just found your blog through the bpal/IntroPlay league! (what a great idea, btw-thanks for organizing!! :) so, i've been reading through some of these blog posts (nodding my head in agreement here and there), and wanted to comment on this one.

i came to a similar realization that i was always phrasing things in the negative when it came to my health & wellness. one day, i was walking to the bathroom at work and my monkey-mind was listing off all of the things that i "had-to-do" later, and Yoga was one of them. but i stopped in my tracks and thought to myself, "NO." Yoga is not something that I Have to Do, it's something that I GET TO DO. I'm so lucky and fortunate to have the body that allows me to walk, do yoga, work out, etc.. I'm also able to afford gym memberships, DVDs, yoga passes etc.. I get to do these things, I don't HAVE TO.

It's made a total difference in my life. How about yours? :)
