Lovely Fizzy Drink

I've blogged about how unhealthy both diet and regular soda is before and it's not gotten any healthier since then. I used to drink lots of soda and diet soda but it was one of the first things to go when I started making changes. I haven't had diet soda since sometime in 2008 and only indulged in regular soda on a special occasion earlier this year. The Sci-Fi theater restaurant at Disney does a wonderful fountain vanilla Coke (not the horrible canned stuff) so it was a planned indulgence. If you're addicted to soda, now is the perfect time to phase it out. It would make a great New Year's resolution. It's specific and something completely attainable.

Both my husband and I love a fizzy drink every now and again so I had to find a delicious alternative to all the crap Big Soda puts out there. It had to be refreshing, a little sweet and very fizzy so I bought some fizzy water and some juice and played with the combinations and came up with our favorite spritzer. It's about 20 calories with no artificial sweeteners or colors, corn syrup or other nasty stuff. It's really simple, really tasty and really refreshing.

  2. I also have to recommend Kombucha. Have you tried it? It's basically fermented tea. It's wonderful for you - full of probiotics. You can make it yourself or buy it at any healthy-ish store.

  3. I am so proud of you for keeping up with juicing, Jamie! And thank for your kind words.

Stephanie, I've not tried Kombucha yet, but I love green tea and have fallen in love with Bancha. I will look for Kombucha next time I'm at Whole Foods.

  4. I love seltzer water and use it as a special treat sometimes! Today I am drinking raspberry seltzer water. It has zero calories (but no artificial sweetener, unlike diet soda) and is a great substitute for sodapop. I haven’t had a soda in a year. I don’t even miss it! Isn’t that weird? I agree with you that it is ‘completely attainable’. Most people don’t realize how absolutely awful it is for your body, and then when you eliminate it, you barely even notice it’s gone.
