No-Weigh Friday

Have you ever had a day when you wake up smiling? Well that was today. Healthy eating and being active is definitely an antidote for the blues. Yesterday was Nurse's Day which isn't exactly a major holiday but since I had to work yesterday, I moved my celebration to today. First, it was off to Washworks to treat my car to an overdue cleaning. I can't believe that it's taken this long for Tardis to make her blog debut...

2005 Scion xB, aka Tardis

I love my car, she fits my personality so well. My sister said it best..."Girlie, your car is just like you, small and very funny."

Then it was on to the happy hacker for a new 'do. I didn't have the balls for the pixie cut I really want so this will have to do until I grow a pair....

Then I hit Home Depot for more five more tomato plants along with pots and cages. I wanted to have a longer tomato harvest so planting now should extend it another month or so. I planted the other two boxes earlier in the week along with a pot of purple basil seeds. The peppers, squash, potatoes, garlic chives, sweet marjoram along with more beets, carrots and various greens will sprout next week with a little luck and lots of warm weather.

My final stop was the farm for more eggs and milk. I got another photo of the hens which are actually roosters. Sonja Henie is a man, baby! Three more weeks until he/she's dinner. On my first trip to the farm I picked up some canna lily roots and planted them that day. Two of them have unfurled their first leaves. I love the rich red and green, so pretty...

That's been my day so far. I'm a few chapters in to Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma which I'm really itching to get back into so I'm going to sit out on the deck and do some reading until it's time for wine. The Sauv Blanc is chilling. I'll bid you an amazing weekend and leave you with two questions...

What are your plans for the weekend and what kind of car do you drive?

  1. I like the new doo...very cute.

I've got a Tahoe 4WD which we've been using the hell out of here in the Utah desert. We also have a Toyota Prius...I like to think we balance out the environmental issues.

  2. Cute cut! :) :)

I drive a Mazda CX-7 and am also getting a haircut (and color) this weekend. Plus celebrating my first mother's day as a mother! :)

    Have a good one!

  3. That hair cut is so cute!

We have a Saturn wagon that we have had for over 10 years.

    Also have a scooter.

  4. Such a cute cut -- and Tardis! Yes! What a perfect Whovian salute. :) I drive a 2003 Dodge Caravan. Total grocery-getter-soccer-mobile. My husband, though, drives a 1991 Jaguar XJ6. He's a total Anglophile, so when the car of his dreams became available for a song, we had to get it. Can't fit the family of 6 in there, but that's ok... :) I just finished reading 'Animal, Vegetable, Miracle' by Barbara Kingsolver - have you read it? A family's journey into eating locally - it was quite thrilling and inspiring. I'm ready for the Farmer's Market to begin!

Happy Nurses' Day, Happy Weekend --

  5. I love the new do! It looks great around your face. And the collarbones? Whoa.

I can't get my purple basil to grow and all so please let me know how that works out for you.

I drive a VW Passat. Love it. Your tardis is pretty cool, too.

  6. Super cute haircut! just gave me an idea for my hair with your dream cut. Hm....
