August Goals

I had the best night's sleep, just over NINE undisturbed blissful hours. Rob is away so his alarm didn't wake me. Good sleep makes me feel like I can take on the world! I didn't take on the world but I walked longer and farther than I had planned this morning, 90 minutes- nearly 9,000 steps with some running intervals, too. Don't skimp on sleep! I promise you when you are well rested everything else comes so much easier.

Onto my goals. Why make goals (specifically health and fitness goals)? Personally, it gives me something to plan for because prior preparation prevents piss poor performance! Plus, it feels so good to achieve goals that I've set for myself. And the long term health benefits are gravy on top of that. My fitness goals for August~lots and lots of exercise. I am aiming for 5 days of exercise per week throughout the month.

Eating goals are going to be a bit trickier. Self-indulgence got me fat so it's tough love time, I have been getting lax at the weekends. I eat healthy and balanced all week but come the weekend it's been too much wine and too many carbs. So I will have to be mindful of that throughout the month of August and go back to my planned indulgence strategy. If I keep indulging every weekend, I will never get to see how I look and feel at 150 pounds.

  1. I totally need more sleep. I am completely off my game today. I think this will need to become an August goal. Get more sleep and stopping staying up past midnight.

  2. August is going to be rough around here. Two weeks back in Birmingham. My family's Southern cooking on one hand, and all of our favorite restaurants from our dating days on the other. Not to mention that I'm not used to the heat anymore!

    So my goals are:
    --Bike as much as I can before I leave (vague, but this is very contingent on the weather)
    --Bike at least once a week while we're there
    --Make good use of the hotel exercise room, four days a week
    --Get a hotel room with a kitchenette, so that we can take leftovers and maybe prepare some healthier meals

  3. Good goals!

    I really want to continue eating well, mostly by cooking my own healthy meals. I also want to continue exercising at the gym nearby and riding my bike everywhere. No car for me!

  4. I love planning out my monthly goals - it's one of my favorite things to do. It kind of gives me a chance to step back and get things in perspective, make sure I'm not too focused on only one small aspedt of my life. Good luck with your goals!!

I make them but I apparently make them either too big, or too many. how did you know where to start? I haven't gone back and read all your blogs, but I plan too.
