No pranks here, just pure joy that March is behind us. I adore spending time with my sister and her kids and loved having The Ducks here but March was very depleting. Too much food, not enough physical activity, not enough sleep, not nearly enough sun. But the thing about a healthy lifestyle, it's ongoing and there is always a new hour, a new day, a new month to make teaks and improvements. No regrets, just moving forward.
I started the day with some yoga. Doing poses feels bizarre to me sometimes but I love how centering it is, how in just a few moves everything is loose and open. I got chores done early, love going into a weekend with a clean house, laundry done and put away. I can't relax with chores having over my head. I got to the farm for milk and eggs and just sat down with my fresh veggie juice. Cucumber, celery and turmeric tastes so good, so refreshing!
What you got cooking for the weekend? I've got some nice menus planned, for tonight Pho with lots of bean sprouts, fresh herbs, snow peas, grass-fed strip steak and shrimp and rice noodles in homemade broth. Tomorrow, spring barley risotto with mint, peas and asparagus and Sunday, turkey burgers seasoned with chutney, green apples and Indian spices served with naan and a big, crunchy vegetable salad. Low maintenance meals with lots of veggies and fresh, vibrant flavors. Spring is here and I'm soup, chili and stewed OUT.
What's upcoming on the blog? Some random food porn and pics from March, some product reviews and a possible giveaway. The Ducks bought us a pressure cooker, I need to find some good recipes for it, I'll let you know how that goes. They also got me an ice cream maker with which I made the most heavenly raw milk gelato, recipe and pics forthcoming. Is there anything specific you'd like to read about, any recipes you'd like to see? Your suggestions are always welcome!
It's also time to think about planting, I have some beds in the front that have been too long neglected, I think some flower planting is in order in addition to my herbs and tomatoes, of course. And after a week of rain and gloom the sun finally decided to show her glowy face today, so here's to blue skies and mild temps because I want to go outside and play this weekend!
