Thursday's Grub

I was not hungry when I woke up this morning, but I have gotten into the habit of eating within a half hour of waking.  If I don't eat enough in the early hours of the day my appetite will get out of hand later in the day.

Breakfast was a green drink and some cultured cottage cheese, about 8:15.

Excuse me, miss? There seems to be a mistake. I believe I ordered the *large* cappuccino.

Loved on Tally after breakfast.  Best dessert ever!

I set about cleaning the house for the next 3 hours, overdue since my knee flare up, but my legs feel great today!   I was hungry for lunch about 11:30am.   Mmmmm, big salad.

Greens, half an avocado, chopped tomato, sliced turkey and Bubbie's traditionally fermented pickles which are the zestiest, crunchiest little gems ever.  Dressing was homemade mayo thinned out with some sherry vinegar.

Snack time at 3pm, mixed nuts and some fresh strawberries.  This one hit all the notes; sweet, juicy, salty, crunchy.

Here's is the mise for tonight's supper, it's a really good one.

Portobello mushrooms grilled then dressed like pizza Margherita with fresh tomatoes, basil and mozzarella cheese, a grilled grassfed burger and a nice crunchy salad of peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and fresh dill lightly dressed with Sicilian olive oil and white balsamic vinegar.

What did you eat today?

  1. I love fruit and nuts together. Pear and peanut butter is a favorite - or dried pineapple and peanuts.

I had a pretty good eating day today. Lots of protein and good fruits and even a couple veggies :D

  2. Oatmeal with almond milk and some pumpkin for breakfast. Egg salad sandwich for lunch. A portion of a chicken casserole for dinner along with some green beans. A big bowl of watermelon for dessert. That's about it. :)

  3. Pear and peanut butter? Oooh, will have to try that!

Caron, watermelon is an awesome dessert.

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. I had a fair to middling eating day. Started out strong with a smoothie (banana, coconut milk, whey powder, and a just a smidge of peanut butter to help mask the whey) with some nice black tea.

Lunch was also decent although a little heavier than normal because I can't resist cafeteria made mac and cheese. I had it with steamed green beans and a small salad with baby greens, grape tomatoes, baby carrots, broccoli, sunflower seeds and a little ranch dressing. So my plate was 3/4 veg.

Afternoon snack of a some homemade hummus and multi-grain crackers. Then I fell apart at dinner and resorted to a Lean Cuisine because I was being lazy and watching Dallas. Homemade cinnamon bread from my CSA with a little local butter for dessert.

Overall, lots of fruit and veg which is great, but the processed meal makes me sad. It was awful.
